Dental Implants With No Supplemental Procedures Required

While dental implants are typically seen as the best solution to tooth loss, not everyone can take advantage of this method. If you have insufficient jawbone density or gum tissue recession, a supplemental procedure may be recommended before you can undergo traditional implant surgery. If you’re missing multiple teeth or an entire arch of teeth, then trying to replace all of them with individual dental implants can prove expensive and inefficient.

Dental implant surgery used to be unavailable to patients who couldn’t undergo a supplemental treatment, had extensive gum tissue loss, or couldn’t afford multiple procedures. Fortunately, advancements in dental technology have made the benefits of dental implants accessible to more of these patients with a method called All-on-4®.

What Is All-on-4?

All-on-4 is a restorative technique that makes efficient use of your existing bone structure by supporting a single restoration with a minimal number of dental implants, usually no more than four per arch. Thanks to the innovative design of All-on-4 dental implants, you can enjoy the significant benefits of dental implants without having to worry about remedying certain oral health issues.

The All-on-4 Process

Consultation

Before undergoing treatment with All-on-4, you’ll visit Chapko & Shah Modern Dentistry for a consultation with one of our dentists. During your consultation, your dentist will thoroughly examine your mouth, review your medical history, and discuss sedation options and your oral health goals with you.

Designing Your All-on-4 Implants

Once you and your dentist have determined that All-on-4 dental implants are right for you, we’ll take images and impressions of your teeth. These images and impressions will be sent to a special lab and serve as the blueprints for your All-on-4 dental implants.

Preparation For Your All-on-4 Implants

Before your dentist can install your implant posts, we’ll thoroughly clean your mouth of any particles and plaque. Afterwards, your dentist will apply a local anesthetic to numb your mouth while they work. Once we’ve ensured that your anesthetic has taken effect, along with any sedation method you may have chosen, your dentist will proceed with installing your implants.

Installing Your All-on-4 Implants

To place your implants, your dentist will make small incisions in your gums where your implants will go. Then, they’ll surgically insert the posts into your jawbone. The posts will fuse with the bone in a natural process called osseointegration, which usually takes three to six months.

While you wait for your dental implants to fully integrate with your jawbone, your dentist will provide you with a set of temporary restorations to wear. You’ll never have to go toothless before you’re ready for permanent restorations.

Attaching Your Permanent Restorations

Once your implants have been fully integrated, you’ll return to our office in Belvidere, IL. Your dentist will remove your temporary restorations and install your permanent prosthetic arches.
